Clinical supervision, consultation & training
I have been providing individual and group consultation and clinical supervision in private practice and at non-profit agencies to students, crisis response workers, and counsellors since 2012.
In addition I have trained countless volunteers, substance use and trauma counsellors, group facilitators, and naturopathic students in the areas of counselling skills, risk assessment & safety planning, abuse and trauma, suicide, substance use, grounding & containment, vicarious trauma, self care, and spiritual growth.
How Consultation and Clinical Supervision are different
Consultation can provide any of the following: exploration of how we integrate/enact our ethics, ethical questions or dilemmas, specific case consultation related to the Consultee’s skills and interventions, including writing case notes, consultation on themes arising in the Consultee’s work, demonstrations of skills, and/or an exploration of strengths and areas that the Consultee wishes to develop. Although when consulting the Consultant has an ethical obligation to provide sound support and centre clients, the Consultant is not legally liable for how the Consultee practices.
Clinical supervision can provide all of the above, but also includes case file review, direct observation of the Supervisee’s work with clients (through video or audio recordings, and/or direct observation or co-counselling) and the Clinical Supervisor can be liable for the Supervisee’s practice with clients.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) Consultation
I am a Certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, and an approved SP consultant, and provide individual and group consultation from a somatic perspective to Sensorimotor Psychotherapy students and alumni.
